The stats speak for themselves; Max Morgan of Greeley West High School is a football player. Rushing for 257 yards and four touchdowns on limited carries, 29 Receptions and six scores and of course his All-State caliber defensive stats made up of two interceptions, two fumbles recovered , one sack and 160 total tackles.
The numbers, as good as they are, do not do justice to the player. Morgan, on film, reminds me of a shark prowling the waters. Whether playing between the tackles or in space, Morgan sees his prey, closes in and finishes fast. When playing in the box Morgan is very good, make quick reads and getting downhill fast with a bit of nasty, but I see him as an outside backer in college. Morgan, at outside backer, shows the ability to tackle one on one in space. He can also cover backs as well tight ends. He is bigger than I expected and looks like he could add weight to his frame.
Currently Morgan has no offers but Wyoming and Colorado State are showing increasing interest. The most likely post high school playing scenario would see Morgan join his two older brothers at Brigham Young University. Both Rex and Blake Morgan were All-League, All-State level players at Greeley West showing much of the same versatility as Max. Morgan's diversity should make him a contributor to a college program relatively early as he can put his skill's to work as a special team's player.
