Fort Collins and Fairview both get wins to set up the anticipated Front Range game of unbeaten teams.

High school kids are high school kids, so you can’t fault the Fort Collins Lambkin squad for taking a peek ahead to next week’s big showdown with Fairview for the Front Range league title. If Fort Collins needed a little more focus it came early in tonight’s game against Mountain Range when the Mustangs hit a screen pass from forty yards out to take the lead over the Lambkins. In response, junior Ben Marum got behind the Mountain Range secondary and scored on a 70 yard fade pattern. Soon after, senior running back Sam Seeton capped a Fort Collins drive on a toss play for a score making it 14-7 Lambkins going in at half. In the second half, the Lambkin defense, highlighted this evening by the play of linebacker Colton Richard, stymied the Mountain Range offense allowing no more scores on the night. In the fourth quarter Fort Collins signed off with a TD run by quarterback Erik Brakke to make the final 21-7. The win by Fort Collins, as well as a 63-21 victory by Fairview over Northglenn, sets up the highly anticipated Front Range showdown between the two unbeatens for the title. Knight’s running back Tucker Tharp continued his steamrolling ways as he averaged 14 yards a carry while scoring three times. In the second half, Tharp had a shoulder injury and sat out. On the flip side, word is ultra talented Fairview athlete Kenny Bell may be back for the Fort Collins game setting up a classic matchup between the talented Fairview O and a stingy Fort Collins D. On the season Fairview is scoring nearly 37 points a game while Fort Collins is allowing fewer than 10 points a game. Something has to give Thursday night. Early keys to watch out for in this big time 5A matchup is the play of Fairview quarterback Ben Schumacher and Fort Collins running back Sam Seeton. Quietly this year, Schumacher has put up over 1,200 combined yards of offense, making the Knights extremely tough to stop due to their offensive versatility. Seeton, of Fort Collins, is not shy about handling a large number of carries and his ability to move the chains and eat some clock may help limit the touches for the Fairview skill players. This game will be fun!
