FB/LB Connor Stevens of Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs is the epitome of an old school two way player.

Last season, Pine Creek High School in Colorado Springs had a very successful year as they made the playoffs on the strength of an undefeated regular season.  One of the key components to that success was the play of two way star Connor Stevens. Stevens, who was an All-Conference and All-State pick, established himself as one of Colorado’s top two way players excelling as a linebacker and fullback. A 315 pound bencher and a top wrestler, Stevens is a throwback, old school player.  Recently, Connor took some time to talk football with PrepColorado.

I want to make the All- Colorado team and play in the All State game.

How will you prepare for this upcoming season? Will you attend any camps?

I have been in the weight room constantly and have attended multiple 7 on 7 camps with my team.

Will you go to any combines?

No.

What aspect of your game have you really worked hard to improve? What area would you like to keep improving on?

I need to work on staying low out of my stance and not playing too close to the line of scrimmage as the year progresses.

Who are some of your teammates that people need to watch out for?

Kenny Klien, Josh Chance, Nick Markowski, Taylor Lopez, Kris Kentera

Name one teammate you really respect and tell us why?

Kenny Klien, he is my brother on and off the field. We play inside linebacker together and push each other constantly in the weight room.

I have not received any offers yet, but my top five are Princeton, Brown, Colorado School of Mines, University of San Diego, and Northern Arizona

Would you consider staying in state to play college ball?

Yeah I would like to be close to home so I could see my family quite a bit.

Who is the best player you ever played against? What made that player stand out?

Gavin Miller from Greeley West. He was one of the toughest linebackers I have ever tried to lay a block on.

Name one team who you really respect and tell us why?

Fountain-Fort Carson because they always show up to play and give us one heck of a fight year in and year out. They play hardnosed football like we do and that earns a ton of respect.

How do you think your coach would describe you as a player?

I’m a hard worker and I make sure that my team is doing what they need to do to reach our goal as a team.

Who is your favorite pro athlete?

Brian Urlacher because he is an animal on the field and plays a hundred miles an hour all the time. I have loved him since I can remember watching football on TV.
