Top players from Colorado, the Midwest and South converged on Fort Collins for the Colorado State Elite Camp. Basketball analyst David Matthews gives his take.

The Colorado State Elite Camp was loaded with talented local prospects and prospects from the Midwest and Deep South. In addition to some talented Colorado players, there were some very nice players from Minnesota and Houston. Here is a list of the top performers at the camp with breakdowns from PrepColorado’s basketball contributor David Matthews.

Top 2010 Prospects

·         Chad Calcaterra (6’10” P Cloquet, Minnesota)

·         Kevin Noreen (6’10” P Minneapolis, Minnesota) – Committed to Boston College

·         Tevin Svihovec (6’2” CG Kingwood, Texas)

·         Chris Perry (6’4” SG Las Vegas, Nevada)

·         Beau Gamble (6’0” PG New Hampton, New Hampshire)

·         Kene Anyigbo (6’5” SF Houston, Texas)

·         Dwight Smith (6’4” SG Ralston, Nebraska) – Committed to Colorado State

·         Maurice Wiltz (6’1” CG Stafford, Texas)

·         Thomas Bropleh (6’5” SF New Hampton, New Hampshire)

·         Steve Carver (6’7” P Shawnee, Kansas)

·         Aaron Turner (6’7” CF Houston, Texas)

·         Stephen Madison (6’6” SF Vancouver, Washington)

·         Jamal Johnson (6’0” PG San Antonio, Texas)

·         Lantee Philips (6’0” PG Pearland, Texas)

Calcaterra and Noreen were very active in the post all camp long. They both have very nice frames and should be excellent college players. Svihovec shot the ball very well from all three levels. Wiltz is a smooth wing who could have a bright future if he adds some weight. Anyigbo is freakishly athletic and finishes very strong at the rim. Perry and Smith both have older brothers who play at CSU and should turn into very nice college players in their own right.

Class of 2011 Prospects

·         Terrell Brown (6’4” SG Colorado Springs, Colorado)

·         Eric Robertson (6’7” SF Wayzata, Minnesota)

·         Shelby Moats (6’7” P Waconia, Minnesota)

·         Dominic Williams (6’3” SG Denver, Colorado)

·         Jonah Travis (6’6” SF Minneapolis, Minnesota)

Robertson, Travis and Moats are all nice looking mid-sized players from Minnesota. Roberston is very athletic and versatile and likes to fly around to collect rebounds. Brown is a smooth with who attacks the rim well. Williams’ stock should rise tremendously after a strong performance at the camp.

Class of 2012 Prospects

·         Xavier Talton (6’2” SG Sterling, Colorado)

·         Jalen Little (5’10” PG Colorado Springs, Colorado)

Talton is quickly becoming one of the top wing prospects in the region with his strong play this summer. Little is a smooth point guard who will be a wonderful prospect if he continues to grow.
