This past spring, 6-5 230 pound tight end Kyle Slavin of Chatfield High School was very happy when he received a surprise first offer from Syracuse University, but this past week; Slavin was downright elated when home state favorite Colorado offered. When the offer was tendered Slavin says he, "committed right there and then."
Throughout the recruiting process, Slavin had leaned toward the Buffs, but the Buffaloes had not offered. The pass catching tight end felt Colorado wanted to see if he had improved enough as a blocker to warrant the offer. After camp this week, the answer looks to be yes.
Slavin, a very versatile pass catcher who can work from multiple spots on the field, has worked hard this offseason to improve as a blocker, emphasizing technique and pad level. Slavin has also already added five pounds of muscle while increasing each of his core lifts 30 pounds. With continued work in the weightroom, it would not be a stretch to see Slavin report to Boulder a year from now as a 6-5 240 pounder.
Here is a look at Slavin on film.
