Over the past couple of years one of the most popular series we have run on PrepColorado is “The Season” in the series, prep players give us an inside look at what it is like to be a high school football player today. Some of the past alums of the season have been Michael Mankoff, Drew Davis and Brian Hendricks This year one of the players giving us an inside look will be receiver Beau Trigsted of Legacy High School in Broomfield, Colorado
The NFL 7on7 trip to New Orleans went great. We had a great time playing against some of the most elite players in the country. It is always a great experience to play against great talent. The game speed is so much faster. You really have to be on your toes if you want to compete at that level. We did great as a team. We had 5 players from Legacy, 6 players from Bear Creek, and 1 player from Ft. Lupton. We had a rocky start losing our first 2 games but then got in gear and won seven in a row, leading up to the AFC Championship game, which we unfortunately lost. It was just a great all around experience. We took tours of the Superdome and of the 9th Ward. Both were amazing to see, but in very different ways. Our 7on7 team has been asked to play an exhibition at half time of the Broncos/Packers pre season game, Friday, August 22 at INVESCO Field. Come watch us play. It will be a good way to get used to the field before our state championship game at the end of the year!
We just ended two a days. The last I will have as a high school player. It’s a relief to finally be done but I am going to miss it. It was always a great team bonding experience for me and I’m sure for the other players as well. We are getting ready to play our first game August 29th against Mountain Range. It’s going to be a great game to watch. We have been waiting for a long time to finally get back into the season and cannot wait to finally start playing again. We have been working hard all summer putting in hour after hour. We have a great team this year and are hoping to make a big impact in Colorado 5A football!
I’ll get back with you once we get into the season.
GO LIGHTNING!
