Denver East kicker Zach Grossnickle has a very busy summer planned, all of it based on improving as a kicker and trying to get a D1 offer. Grossnickle’s odyssey begins this week as he heads to southern California. While in SoCal, Grossnickle will work with a kicking coach, from there he will take a look at the San Diego State campus and then attend camp at USC on Friday.
Upon return to Colorado, Grossnickle will make a short trip to Boulder as part of his invitation to the Buffalo kicking camp. After the camp in Boulder, the long distance travel starts again as Grossnickle will take a look at five or six more schools. Later this month he will head to northern California to check out Stanford and Cal. In late July a trip to Northwestern is on the itinerary and possibly stops at Michigan, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt.
Kickers are usually the last to get scholarships offers and often, even the best are invited to walk on and then may earn a scholarship later. Grossnickle’s travel should give multiple coaches from across the nation enough of a look to allow them to evaluate his talents and make a decision regarding his future.
