In the Huddle: Cameron Wright

Ralston Valley QB Cameron Wright talks about the season so far, recruiting and what his team needs to do to stay on top.

With a big come from behind win over ThunderRidge, Ralston Valley sits atop the 4A rankings.  Much of the Mustang success has come from the hard work of senior QB Cameron Wright.  Wright has put together a strong season both running and throwing the ball and hopes his play will help his team make a run and gain the attention of recruiters.

PrepColorado: Tell us about the big win over ThunderRidge?

Cameron Wright: A blast to play to play in a #1 versus #2 game.  It was a little sloppy, we had three turnovers.

PrepColorado: Tell us about the final game winning drive?

Cameron Wright: ThunderRidge was double covering Brandon Ribble, so tight end Tim Flagolle had to make big plays. The drive started with 1:01 left and we went right about eighty yards. (Flagolle scored on a Wright pass from thirty yards to win the game)

PrepColorado: Tell us about ThunderRidge, How are they as a team?

Cameron Wright: The past few years  the sportsmanship was a lot better.  Zach Tiedgen and I went to CSU camp together, it was a fun experience.  It was a great game and a lot of fun between the top two teams.

PrepColorado: What do you need to do as a team to finish the second half of the season strong

Cameron Wright: Keep peaking right now and eliminate mistakes.  Definitely, we are a state contender if we limit mistakes. Continue to have our defense come up big. With defense and if we eliminative our offensive mistakes, all in all I think we are looking really sharp.   Also, Establish the run the more.

PrepColorado: Who are some players that are stepping up?

Cameron Wright: Tim Flagolle, Matt Spirek, Travis Martinez and our half backs.  Felton is getting a few catches spread the ball out, we can't just rely on Ribble

PrepColorado: What is happening with recruiting?

Cameron Wright: Quiet right now, Utah and CSU are still showing the most interest.  Utah a lot lately.  I will go to the CSU, Utah game.  I talked to coach Lubick both Mark (Lubick) and Sonny (Lubick) were at my Montbello game. D2 Augustana has been contact a lot. They run a shot gun spread offense.  I just want the opportunity to play at the next level.
