Colorado's Best: #8 Zach Tiedgen

DE/TE Zach Tiedgen of ThunderRidge

With club basketball out of the way and his college commitment made, 6-4 225 pound TE/DE Zach Tiedgen of ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado is ready to focus on his upcoming football season.

# 8 on this list, Zach Tiedgen of ThunderRidge High School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado is a player with the ability to perform on both sides of the ball and like many on this list, athletic enough to be a top player in two sports.

Last season, for a ThunderRidge football squad that went 10-2, the 6-4 225 pound Tiedgen established himself as one of the top defensive ends in the state.  For his work on a defense that allowed fifteen points a game, Tiedgen was awarded 1st Team All-League and All-State honors.  Although a top defensive player, most schools at the next level are looking at Tiedgen as a tight end. Tiedgen, who has orally committed to Colorado State, also holds offers from Wyoming and San Diego State and is receiving interest from Nebraska, Boise State and Washington State.

Much of Tiedgen's multi-faceted skill set was forged on the basketball court, where he is one of the state's top frontcourt players.  Last season, on a 22-5 ThunderRidge squad that made it to the quarterfinals in the state tournament, Tiedgen put together a season that earned him 1st Team All-League honors.  These skills, along with his size and 4.7 speed, should not only help ThunderRidge this season but also make Colorado State coach Sonny Lubick very happy .
