Recruiting Update: Joe Harris

Recruiting Update: Joe Harris

One of Colorado's top athletes on the football field, linebacker/running back Joe Harris of George Washington High School in Denver hopes a busy camp schedule will bring more offers.

When you talk to George Washington High School head football coach Steve Finesilver about his linebacker/running back Joe Harris, Finesilver almost gets a little giddy.  And why wouldn't he?  Harris is not only one of Colorado's top football players he may be one of the states top athletes.  A few weeks ago, Harris brought home first place in the state triple jump with a leap of nearly forty-eight feet, helping George Washington secure the state title.  At 6'3 207 pounds, running a 4.6 forty and possessing a thirty-three inch vertical jump, Harris has the measurables to compete athletically at any D1 program.

In addition to his tremendous athleticism, Harris is a true football player.  Last season, Harris played both ways as an inside linebacker on defense and a running back on offense.  Offensively, Harris averaged nearly eight yards a carry.  Defensively, he has the toughness to play inside but projects at the next level as an outside backer.  When asked to describe Harris as a football player Finesilver says, " Joe is a kid that can play three or four positions on offense, four or five on defense.  He has vision when he runs, he hits, he can do so many things, he is a complete player."

Harris' athleticism and ability on the field has garnered him offers from Wyoming, Colorado State and Colorado. Along with these offers, Harris has verbals from Kansas State and Washington State and is receiving increased interest from Utah, Louisville, Arizona State and Stanford.  Coach Finesilver feels that Harris will receive more offers soon as he goes to various camps.  Currently, Harris holds a 3.7 core GPA.
