Over
the past two seasons, Douglas County High School has compiled a sterling
record. This year, Douglas County
made it to the semifinals and of course, last season they brought home the state
title. At the core of this success,
was a great group of players, many of whom, today signed with colleges across
the state and nation. Earlier we
had a chance to talk to Douglas County Head Coach Jeff Ketron about his
signees.
Coach
Ketron on University of Pennsylvania signee QB Keiffer Garton:
“Leadership,
I have never seen leadership qualities on any kid at any level like Keiffer, you
can’t coach that.”
Coach
Ketron on Colorado State bound LB Luke Diehl:
“Confidence
and raw toughness, he played the last two years dinged up. He is like old west
cowboy tough.”
Coach
Ketron on Colorado bound offensive lineman Ethan Adkins:
“He is going to be a guard at
Colorado. He plays basketball and
weighs 282 pounds with no fat. Big
kid, good athlete, flexible. He was
just begun to reach his potential, he could be 325 pounds, his best is yet to
come.”
Coach
Ketron on DB Lyle Brown who will attend the University of
Montana:
“Unbelievable
speed and athletic ability, he can jump out of the roof, he has a thirty-nine
inch vertical jump, runs a 10.8 in the one hundred meters. Tremendous
upside.”
Along
with this group of DI and DIAA recruits, WR Mike Whitney, LB Josh Ruff, DE Ian
Reither, Rover Tucker Reddy, WR Andy Nappo, will all go to the Colorado School
of Mines. TE Curtis Prock will play
at Western State and DT Mike White, who had numerous DII offers, is walking on
at Colorado State for the chance to play DI ball. It is interesting to note and a credit
to the Douglas County players that the team GPA this year was 3.49. Great Job and good luck in
college.
