Wide receiver Brett Skene from Mullen HS committed to Air Force this weekend
on his visit. Colorado Insider had a chance to talk with Brett and see why he
chose Air Force.
Scout.com: Why Air Force?
Skene:
"I choose Air Force because I think that the Academy is a great fit for me.
I really enjoyed the coaching staff and they showed me to a great time on the
visit. Coach Calhoun is bringing a winning attitude to the program and I'm
excited to become a part of it."
What did you like about the
school on your trip?
"I really enjoyed the food and the festivities.
They took me to a hockey game Friday night and a basketball game Saturday
afternoon. The basketball team put on a great show for us against Wyoming. I got
to know some of the freshman guys Friday night and some of the upperclassman
Saturday night and they were cool guys. "
Who were your
hosts?
"I had two different hosts. Friday night, a freshman DB named
Blake showed me around and they took us bowling at the prep school. On Saturday
night, a junior WR named Mike Moffett showed me around."
Will
you redshirt?
"Air Force does not have a redshirt year. They divide
their recruits into two groups. One group goes to the prep school for a year and
the other group is called the direct-in group and that group goes directly into
the Academy. I was told that I will go directly into the Academy and get a
chance to compete their my freshman year."
What were your stats
this past year?
"I caught 19 balls for about 270 yards."
What other schools did you consider?
"I was also
considering CSU, San Diego, and Holy Cross."
What is your GPA
and SAT?
"On the SAT is scored a 560 Verbal and a 600 Math. My GPA
is 3.74."
What do you plan to major in?
"I plan on
majoring in Business Management/Administration."
How excited are
you and your family?
"My family is extremely excited. My dad went
down on the visit with me and he was as fired up as I was. My grandparents are
also very happy they will be down at Mullen Wednesday for signing day."
