Potentially Colorado’s top player without an offer, Pine Creek QB Tommy Lazzaro says he is done with camps for the summer. According to the 2015 prospect Wyoming and Colorado State are the schools showing the most interest. This summer Lazzaro reports working hard to improve his footwork which he feels has improved his accuracy. A more accurate Lazzaro is a scary prospect for opponents of last year’s 4A state champ.
2016 Valor Christian two way lineman Dillon Reinkensmeyer attended the Chicago Showcase earlier this summer and competed at Wyoming camp. The 6-5 260 pound two way player is intriguing in that he is equally talented on both sides of the ball. With his size and great frame and playing for one of Colorado’s top programs expect Reinkensmeyer to gain significant college attention this upcoming season.
Another 2016 prospect that warrants recruiting interest is Regis Jesuit defensive lineman Ace Escobedo. The 6-3 265 pound Escobedo cites practicing against offensive lineman Tim Lynott, Jack Maly and Connor Hearn as key to his improvement as a player. Regarding practicing against the talented offensive linemen Escobedo says, “there so big, athletic and technically sound which makes them the best in the state. Competing at such a high level with them every practice prepares me to play at a higher level.” The benefit of practicing against top offensive linemen every day is evident in Escobedo’s game. Escobedo plays with leverage, great hands and motor. Combined with 2015 prospect Eddie Gonzales, Regis may have the best interior pair in Colorado.
2015 Overland defensive back Josh Wright reports that South Dakota is showing interest. Wright looks to hit to more camps this summer, heading to Arizona State on July 20th and CSU-Pueblo July 26th.
The University of Colorado continues to harvest Pac 12 caliber talent from home. First, the Buffs secured a verbal from nationally recruited Regis lineman Tim Lynott. Colorado followed that up with a verbal from Rocky Mountain High School punter Alex Kinney. Often we overlook kickers and punters but Kinney is an impact player due to his big leg that is used for punts, field goals and kickoffs. Kicking guru Chris Sailer believes Kinney is one of the nations’ top combo kickers.
