Strong Showing for Colorado

KC MVP Avery Anderson

Two elite Colorado 7on7 squads dominate at KC tournament, qualifying for at shot at a national title in Florida this June.

Yesterday at the Heartland Elite 7on7, Colorado represented well as Team Weapon X defeated Colorado Connect in the final to bring home the trophy. Finishing one and two, both Weapon X and Connect qualified for the IMG 7on7 Championship held the third week on June in Bradenton, Florida.

The athletic Team Weapon X squad dominated the awards as Colorado Springs Pine Creek DB and Nebraska commit Avery Anderson was named defensive MVP. Highlands Ranch Valor Christian athlete Eric Lee, also a Nebraska commit, brought home the award for offensive MVP. Lee one of the top DB recruits in the western U.S., gave a glimpse of what he will bring to the Valor offense this upcoming season.

Also playing strong for Team Weapon X was 2015 Pine Creek QB Tommy Lazzaro. Solid throughout the tourney, working with talent like Anderson, Lee and Cherry Creek's James Parker, Lazzaro should start to see more college attention. Especially if he performs well in Florida.

For Colorado Connect big receivers created opportunities as 6-4 Denver East WR Jordan Willis and 6-3 Prairie View pass catcher Zach Peterson were matchup nightmares. Also playing strong for Connect was Bear Creek WR Felipe Cervantes.
