Phenoms Week Three

Despite historic rains, Colorado's best managed to hit the field this weekend as well as Monday completing strong performances as the season begins to hit its pace.

Gabe Gillespie of Mountain Range is a key piece to the Mustangs 3-0 start. The 227 pound power back scored three TD in a 35-15 win over Greeley West. Three scores in a game is Phenom worthy, but currently that is Gillespie's norm in that he has done it every game so far this year.

Chris Marquez of Pomona continues to have a very strong senior campaign. The 5-8 back posted 200 yards in 38-28 win over Lakewood.

Helping Cherokee Trail finds its offensive footing was talented dual threat QB Aric Johnson who threw for three scores and ran for another as Cherokee Trail pasted Gateway 48-0.

6-1 215 pound 2015 Fountain-Fort Carson RB/LB Drue Harris averaged 18 yards a carry on the way to 268 yards as FFC defeated Rock Canyon 47-16.

Vista Ridge sophomore QB Elway Tubbs is lighting it up this season for over 880 yards in three games. Saturday Tubbs threw for 335 yards in a 28-13 win against Cheyenne Mountain.

Friday against Palmer 2014 Legend receiver Elijah Cherrington caught three passes, each for a touchdown, averaging nearly 50 yards a reception as Legend won 51-13.

Akron Senior RB Levi Hottinger averaged an astounding 32 yards a carry on the way to 194 yards and three scores leading his squad to 63-14 win against Belleview Christian.

Chatfield junior quarterback Kyle Winkler is off to a strong start for his 3-0 Chargers. This past weekend in a 42-27 win over Dakota Ridge, Winkler threw for four scores completing 22 of 29 passes. On the season Winkler is completing 73% of his throws. Further, Winkler is spreading the wealth with three receivers already with double digit catches.

Check out Kalen Ballage's stat line this season; 12.5 yards a carry for 487 yards. Two catches, two touchdowns at 49 yards per reception. Ballage has returned three punts for a total of 188 yards including a 95 yard punt return. For good measure Ballage has one interception with a 37 yard return.

Quarterback A.J. Thompson of Montbello has 10 throwing TDs on the season including four this past weekend in a 43-6 win over Thomas Jefferson. Thus far Thompson has thrown only one interception
