Big game matchups both across the state and outside the state highlight this week's Phenoms.

Big Game Battles

Two of the week's top games featured hardnosed traditional powers as Cherry Creek took on Pomona and ThunderRidge faced Ralston Valley.

In a hard fought battle in which not just every possession, but every touch mattered, Cherry Creek's Milo Hall rushed for 170 yards as the Bruins outlasted Pomona 19-15 Friday night.

2014 ThunderRidge QB Brody Westmoreland, behind great line play, ran for two scores and threw for two scores as ThunderRidge defeated Ralston Valley 36-18. Tyler Seno of ThunderRidge had two sacks pacing the D.

Hope Springs Eternal

Coronado, Doherty and Sand Creek have, over the past few years, had difficulty gaining wins, currently each program, behind exciting players, are undefeated.

Coronado junior Austin Micci had 112 yards on four carries helping Coronado move to 3-0 on the season as they defeated Harrison 35-7 in Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs Doherty senior RB Zach Young continued his ground assault this week rushing for 221 yards and six scores against a talented Eaglecrest squad in a 49-27 win over the Raptors.

Senior QB Mike DeCarmo of Sand Creek has pushed the Scorpions to a rare 2-0 start establishing himself as one of the top dual threat QBs in the Springs.

Sons Shine

Two of Colorado's best known athletic sons; Jay MacIntyre, son of Colorado HC Mike MacIntyre and Christian McCaffrey son of Bronco legend Ed McCaffrey both had big games this weekend.

Jay MacIntyre of Monarch had a hand in four scores highlighting his diverse skill set running for two touchdowns, throwing a TD pass and taking back pick six as the Coyotes made quick work of Wheat Ridge Saturday.

McCaffrey posted 230 rush yards, including a 98 yarder in a 21-24 OT loss to Bingham, Utah.

Dynamic Duo

The Fairview combination of Hill to Martin continued in a 53-32 win against Overland as QB Anders Hill threw for nearly 350 yards, 186 to receiver Sam Martin.

Around the State

Soroco sophomore Storm Veilleux scored five times as his squad beat Justice High School 54-6.

Heritage senior RB Rob Sublette helped the Eagles come back from last week's loss to Arapahoe averaging over 13 yards a carry on the way 212 rush yards and three scores in a 39-19 win over Fruita Monument.

Trey Smith continues his offensive assault averaging 211 yards rushing a game, this week leading Douglas County to a 43-10 win against Castle View.

Silver Creek QB Ben Sjobakken flirted with perfection going 10-11 for 240 yards as his Raptors dismantled Centaurus 48-6.

RJ Ramirez of Prairie View only needed seven carries to post over 150 rush yards against Boulder in a 48-14 win. Ramirez had four scores on the ground as well as a punt return.

QB David Sommers posted 290 yards of offense as his Holy Family squad took care of D'Evelyn 42-7.

Sophomore Elijah Sullivan rushed for 153 yards on seven carries as Longmont buried Grand Junction Central 47-7.
