In the Trenches: Jamin Smith

PrepColorado talks football with 2014 Douglas County offensive lineman Jamin Smith.

Douglas County Head Coach Jeff Ketron speaks highly of 2014 Husky offensive lineman Jamin Smith, comparing Smith favorably with the numerous offensive linemen Douglas County has placed in the college ranks. A look at Smith's film shows a coach's dream as Smith plays hard on every down, getting physical and making the game tough for opposing defensive lineman. Recently the 6-2 260 pound lineman talked football with PrepColorado.

Have you been able to make any Junior Days this offseason?

I was invited to CSU, Wyoming, and CU's junior days. I couldn't make it to CSU or Wyoming because of wrestling season, and CU had theirs and I couldn't make it because of the snow.

What schools do you feel are showing the most interest?

I have received mail from many schools and have been in contact with coaches at CSU, Northern Colorado, Wyoming, and Colorado.

Have any schools made an offer?

No schools have offered me yet.

What part of your game are you concentrating on this offseason?

This offseason I am really working on getting my feet faster and working on technique.

What do you see as the strength of your game?

I view the strength of my game as my physicality in the run game

Currently you play tackle, but what position do you feel you are best suited for in college?

I have been told by quite a few coaches that they feel like I'm best suited to play guard or center in college.

What do you feel you bring to a college program?

I feel like I can bring physicality to any team, a great work ethic, and a desire to compete.

How does Douglas County look for the 2013 season?

I feel like we are a team that's going to be really tough to beat next year. We have 4 returning starters on the O-Line, a good young tight end in Dylan Sundeen, and Trey Smith is one of the best running backs in the state so I feel like our offense will be really explosive. And our Defense has a lot of returning starters, including one of the leading tacklers in the state Zach Barlow.

One of the state's top wrestlers and a natural, high motor mauler on the field, Smith could be a fit for a college program looking for a physical presence on the inside of the offensive line. Recommended Stories
