Today the news broke that Auburn has parted ways with head coach Gene Chizik. FoxSportsNext caught up with Carlson to see where he stands.
When asked if he was still committed he sais, "Yes I am still committed. I will keep seeing what news I hear and consider what will be the best for my future. Right now it is Auburn still. I will just have to see how everything plays out."
Kohl's Kicking ranks Carlson as the #1 kicker prospect in the nation and the #30 punter in the nation. Here is what they say about his ability:
"Daniel is a 6'5 kicker with a huge leg, he went 10-10 at the Underclassman Challenge on FG and hit multiple 4.3 second hang-times, kicks well off the ground, will get better with more experience, seems to handle pressure very well and did well when put on stage, should draw top college offers, talent to be outstanding."
Carlson (6-5 205) was asked if any schools had contacted him since the news broke. He says, "Not yet. Nothing would be considered though until I know more about the situation."
Carlson averaged 41 yards per punt this year and was 10 of 14 on field goals with a long of 37 yards.
