PrepColorado has learned that Lewis-Palmer forward Justin Smith will play his college basketball at Idaho State. Smith chose Idaho State over other offers based on his high level of comfort with Head Coach Bill Evans and his staff.
Last season Smith, in helping Lewis-Palmer to a state title, posted strong numbers while gaining All-Conference and All-State honors. Standing 6-7, Smith brings tremendous versatility to the court with the ability to score inside and out.
Smith’s club coach David Matthews of the Colorado Chaos describes Smith as, “a smooth wing who scores well at the rim and also shoots the ball very well from beyond the stripe. He is also one of the most athletic players in the state and uses his athleticism to be solid defender.”
Idaho State, in the midst of rebuilding under Evans, is a good fit for Smith, in that the 2013 prospect could see early playing time for the Big Sky school.
