Right now Mullen High School in Denver, Colorado is in the thick of a tight 5A Colroado football division. Sitting at 3-2, the Mustangs under first year coach Tom Then ell have relied on a strong senior class and a stingy defense. One of the leaders on the defense and the team is 6-2 245 pound defensive end Collin Albershardt. Currently Albershardt leads the team in sacks with four and has registered 29 total tackles.
Albershardt's high level of play, strong academics and hard work off the field have garnered the athlete significant college attention from multiple schools. Right now, Albershardt holds an offer Montana State and will visit the Bobcats next weekend. Albershardt also has an invitation for an official visit to Princeton. Closer to home, Albershardt is very interested in the Air Force. Albershardt reports he is getting calls from TCU, Colorado, Boise State, Wyoming, Georgetown, West Point, Fordham and lately the University of San Diego. Albershardt is leaning toward schools with strong academics, but does not plan to make a decision until after he has finished his official visits.
Throughout his career Albershardt has always been stout against the run and that holds true this season, but review of film shows a player that has become more explosive as a pass rusher, both from a three point or two point stance. The improved pass rush adds another quality to the game of a player already in demand at the college level.
