A contest between Denver's best backs, South's Phillip Lindsay and East's Shahid Hoover, was a no contest as South, currently 4-0 and moving up the 4A rankings, defeated a reeling East squad that is 1-2.
For his part, future Buff Lindsay rushed for 134 first half yards before sitting the second half with a hamstring injury. Hoover, who sat out the 53-34 loss due to an injury, is once again in the midst of a strong season rushing the ball. At this time Lindsay's and Hoover's status for next week has yet to be determined.
South QB Malik Tollerson, a senior surprise, continues his exceptional play. In the win, Tollerson threw for two scores and ran in two others passing for 191 yards. The only thing that slowed down the offensive game that had over 700 combined yards was 400 penalty yards shared between the two teams.
