One of Colorado's fastest football athletes, Gavin McHenry of Chaparral High School in Parker, Colorado, put together a senior season that warrants the DI attention he has received. The 10.5 sprinter put his speed to work during a productive senior campaign that saw him register two interceptions to go with nine passes defended and two fumbles recovered. McHenry, who added weight in the offseason, while keeping his speed, also became a bigger part of the Chap run defense registering 60 total tackles. Along with his work on defense and occasional work on offense, McHenry was a terror on special teams blocking two kicks and averaging 21 yards per kickoff return. McHenry's hard work garnered him All-Conference and All-State accolades.
With his senior season now completed, McHenry, who holds offers from Wyoming, UConn and Air Force, can now focus on his recruitment. In early December McHenry travelled to Wyoming for an official visit and this weekend McHenry will take the short trip south from Parker to make his official to the Air Force Academy.
A decision should be imminent from McHenry, who due to his speed, has the potential to be an early contributor to the program of his choice.
