Valor Christian QB duo Cody Thibault and Wes Tabor flirted with perfection going a combined 14 of 16 for 253 yards as #1 seeded Valor blanked Pueblo West 56-0 in the first round of 4A playoffs. Tabor was especially deadly throwing for three scores. Defensively Andrew Pint had 12 tackled and Stanley Gilbert posted two sacks. The win sets up a rematch of last year’s 4A state final as Valor faces 8-3 Wheat Ridge, who used a strong defensive game to defeat Widefield 19-13 Friday night.
Castle View needed every one of Bryce Lich’s 216 rush yards to defeat Green Mountain 35-27 Friday night. Green Mountain scored 10 4th quarter points but came up short against the #4 seeded Sabercats. The win sets up a 2nd round game with 11-0 Longmont, the #3 seed. In a 42-21 win over Falcon, Longmont QB Forrest Wetterstrom had over 300 yards of total offense and three scores.
#3 seed Pine Creek remained unbeaten sending a message to Rock Canyon 41-0 Friday night in the 1st round. The Pine Creek win creates an interesting game next week against a Greeley West squad that upended higher seeded Montrose 21-7. Greeley West is currently on a four game win streak after losing a tough, one point game to Longmont in mid October.
Broomfield senior RB Jose Fraire was too much for Cheyenne Mountain has he rushed for 197 yards in a 44-10 rout of the Indians. Fraire blasted the game wide open in the third quarter with two long touchdown runs. With the win, Broomfield will take on #2 seed Monarch, a team that defeated the Eagles 42-14 in the second week of the season. Monarch was merciless Friday defeating Durango 53-3. Monarch’s patented run game produced over 340 rush yards for the night.
