"Going Great"

Hard work has paid dividends for Auburn commit Shane Callahan of Parker(CO)Chaparral High School as his team preps for the 2nd round of playoffs.

2012 Chaparral offensive lineman and Auburn commit Shane Callahan is not ready for this season to end and if things go well this weekend for his Chaparral squad, the 6-6 285 pounder will get to extend his high school career. Currently Chaparral is 7-3 and is riding a four game win streak having beaten Windsor last week in the first round of 5A playoffs. During the win streak Callahan's Wolverines have outscored opponents 166-8. This week Chaparral will be tested as they host undefeated #2 seed Grand Junction in the 2nd round of playoffs.

For Callahan the season is working out well. Athletic and sporting prototypical size Callahan has become more physical blocker in the run gam. If Callahan continues to improve he should be, at some point in the future, ready for the rigors of the SEC. Unwilling to rest on his laurels Callahan has been working each morning this season with a personal coach to improve his strength and technique.

However long playoffs last for Chaparral and Callahan, the big lineman has an exciting offseason to look forward to having received invitations to play in multiple postseason All-Star games. Currently Callahan has been asked to play in the Offense/Defense Bowl in Dallas on December 30th and he has been asked to play in the Team USA vs. The World International Bowl on February 1st.
