Strong performances take teams one step closer to playoff goals.

Games can, at times, come down to a single play and this weekend no single play was more important than a Ryan Earnest block of a Mullen field goal. The 6-2 Columbine’s seniors block protected a 24-21 win and more importantly placed Columbine in an enviable playoff position.

Eric Williams of Rock Canyon continues to hold his place in the Phenoms. This week Williams went over the 300 yard mark for the third time this season by posting 307 yards on Legend High School in a 63-30 win. Williams also scored six times. On the season Williams has rushed for 1,792 yards and 24 scores. For good measure Williams has 23 receptions and five scores.

Another junior back accustomed to monster performances is Phillip Lindsay of Denver South. This week against George Washington, Lindsay averaged 15 yards a carry on the way to 225 rush yards. For the season Lindsay has 1,592 yards.

Earlier this week PrepColorado featured the Silver Creek receiver Ryan Rankin, who is on a record setting pace for his squad. Nursing an injury Rankin sat out this week’s game against Skyline. With Rankin out, Silver Creek QB Austin Apodaca turned his attention to Greg Reynolds. Reynolds, an accomplished receiver in his own right, has over 60 career receptions, but Friday night would be his biggest career performance. Reynolds had three TDs while compiling 231 receiving yards to go with eight catches.

Junior quarterback Forrest Wetterstrom of Longmont threw for 105 yards and rushed for 169 as part of a 32-6 season finale win against Loveland. Most important to Wetterstrom is the 10-0 record his squad takes into playoffs.

Wetterstom was not the only Longmont underclassman to have a strong night. Lineman Joe Lopez had a hand in three sacks giving him 10 for the season.

Parker Chaparral is playing its best football of the season due in large part to the evolving play of junior QB Matt Kuhns. Over the past three weeks, as Chaparral has outscored opponents 117-0, Kuhns has gone 30-45 for 581 yards, six touchdowns and no interceptions.

Speedy senior Eric Gaytan of Chatfield helped the Chargers upset Arapahoe 28-24 with a three touchdown performance.

DB Adam Gauthier had two interceptions helping Highlands Ranch hold on for 38-27 win over Regis.

Brent Albrandt of Horizon threw four touchdown passes as Horizon defeated Mountain Range 30-0 Friday night.

Austin Smith and Bryce Lich had over 200 yards rushing combined in a win over Littleton. As a pair they averaged 19 yards a carry.

Battle Mountain back Reeve Sanders has 239 rush yards on 12 carries in a win over Steamboat Springs.

Max McCaffrey had five receptions for 167 yards as Valor Christian blanked Ponderosa 50-0.
