There is no doubting that Washington State commit Austin Apodaca is having a great season but for a QB to be successful he has to have someone to throw the ball to. So far this season Apodaca’s go to receiver is senior Ryan Rankin. Friday night in a 41-21 win over Windsor Rankin caught 10 passes for 187 yards and a score.
Another passing tandem having their way with opponent is the Cheyenne Mountain combo of senior QB Bret Helton and junior WR Donivan Harville. In a 45-14 win over Palmer Harville had TDs of 59, 38 and 12 yards while Helton passed for 245 yards and had four total scores.
For the second week in a row QB Thomas Newman threw for three scores as Vista Ridge remained a perfect 5-0 with a convincing win against Pueblo County.
Jerreon Dennis of Grand Junction averaged eight yards a carry on the way to 177 yards and two scores against a tough Fountain-Fort Carson defense in a win Saturday.
D’Evelyn sophomore QB Cody Marvel threw for over 300 yards to go with five scores as the Jaguars defeated Skyview 56-18.
Addie Brown of Mullen scored three times on offense and added an interception return on defense as his Mustangs took care of Bear Creek 34-18 this weekend.
Junior Eric Williams of Rock Canyon is becoming a fixture in the Phenoms. This week Williams rushed for 190 yards and five scores as his team defeated Pueblo West 41-6.
Cameron McDondle of Columbine rushed for 265 yards and scored four times as the Rebels ran over Chatfield 34-7. McDondle is averaging close to 14 yards a carry on the season.
