Grandview gains big win against three time defending champ

On October 24th 2008 Mullen lost a hard fought defensive battle to its nemesis Grandview 17-10. Since that time the Mustangs have rolled off over 30 consecutive wins on the way to three straight 5A titles. Friday night in another hard fought defensive struggle Grandview broke the Mullen streak defeating the champs 12-7.

Two weeks ago, in an opener against Valor Christian, Grandview did not look like a team that had much of a chance to upend the Mustangs. Against Valor the Grandview offense struggled while the defense surrendered big chunks of yards.

The loss, along with a bye week, allowed Grandview the opportunity to focus on the task of beating Mullen. Playing inspired defensive football the Wolves held the Mullen offense, led by Cyler Miles, to seven points, the Mustangs lowest total in nearly five years.
