Need to Know: Kadeem Hendrix
Over the years there has been no shortage of talented skill players on the Denver East roster. This upcoming edition of the Angels may have one of the most talented and balanced sets of skill players in recent history. Running the ball are junior Shahid Hoover and senior Isaiah Hendrix. The duo combined last season for just under 2,000 yards and there is little reason to believe that they won't improve those numbers this upcoming fall. Making this duo even more difficult to defend is 2013 QB Kadeem Hendrix. The 6-4 230 pounder, a starter last season as sophomore, brings a strong arm and balance to the Angel's O. Hendrix' stats did not light the world on fire, but the tools are there for the young signal caller, who, with experience, will have a strong junior campaign. So far this offseason Hendrix has been solid in team 7 on 7 work and he is maturing as a pocket passer. A quick look at Hendrix game shows a true pocket passer that work well from under center, out of shotgun and on the roll. Like many young QBs Hendrix will at times stare down his receivers but that will change with experience. A big and long 6-4, Hendrix has true QB size and an arm to match. Mechanically there are hitches, but they are minimal and are again due to lack of experience. Buoyed by dynamic run game and supported with big and talented receivers, the 2011 football season could be a true breakout for Hendrix as his talent and experience come together.
