Over the past two weeks the UConn Huskies have worked the Centennial state hard visiting schools and making offers in an attempt to expand their recruiting reach into the Rocky Mountains. During their Colorado sojourn, Connecticut extended an offer to Chaparral's Gavin McHenry, met with 2013 Denver East dynamo Shahid Hoover and extended an offer to Valor Christian defensive leader Max McCaffrey.
McCaffrey, an All-State performer last season for his state champion Valor Christian squad, has garnered much attention from east coast schools with Wake Forest and Duke offering as well as UConn. From the west, McCaffrey holds an offer from Arizona State.
A safety, with great size and 4.5 speed, McCaffrey is very comfortable working in and out of the box. Last season, for Valor, McCaffrey had four interceptions to go with numerous tackles.
